Summer Sailing Camp
Coral Reef Yacht Club is pleased to offer its Summer Youth Sailing Program for boys and girls from 8 to 17 years of age. Each summer the Coral Reef Yacht Club runs a summer sailing camp with a wide range of programs from learn-to-sail to advanced. Youth Sailing at Coral Reef Yacht Club has a reputation for developing some of the finest young skippers in the nation with emphasis on sailing in a manner that is safe, fun, and exciting.

The Summer Sailing Camp is available to CRYC member and non-member youths and is an ideal introduction to our year-round program. We hope that the sailors who learn to sail during the Summer Camp will continue as members of the Coral Reef Yacht Club racing team.

Eligibility
Summer sailing programs are available to members of the Coral Reef Yacht Club and non-member applicants. Children ages 8 to 17 must have a desire to learn to sail or improve their present sailing skills and obey the program rules. In order to enroll, all participants must be able to swim and be in generally good health.

Programs
A wide range of programs are offered that address all levels of sailing. Parents should select the program that is appropriate for their child. If there are any questions our staff will be happy to work with you to determine the program that is best suited to your child.  All programs run weekdays from 9:00am until 4:00pm and include lunch, morning and afternoon instructional meetings, followed by sailing practice, lots of play time in the pool and other fun activities.

Beginner: This program is for youths with little or no previous sailing experience.  It offers instruction in basic skills in order to enable a child to feel confident in sailing a single-handed Pram.

Intermediate: Open to sailors who have successfully completed the beginners program or similar training.  It offers advanced instruction in boat handling and an introduction to basic sailboat racing including rules and tactics in the Optimist dinghy.

Teen Program: Open for ages 12 to 17, this program offers beginning and intermediate instruction in the two person Collegiate 420s.  Emphasis is on learning double-handed sailing skills, teamwork and enjoying the sport.

Boats
Beginners will sail Club Prams, Intermediates will sail the International Optimist Dinghy. The Teen program will sail the Collegiate 420s.  Sailors are welcome to bring their own boats. There will be no charge for storage; however boats need to be registered.

Summer Coaching Staff
Our program is renowned for its low sailor to instructor ratios, individualized instruction and support of our young sailors. Our coaching staff is certified in CPR and Safe Sport.
