Directions by Water

Coral Reef Yacht Club is located in the Coconut Grove waterfront section of Miami on the western shore of Biscayne Bay. On your charts, look for Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove, south of the Rickenbacker Causeway leading across the Bay to Key Biscayne.

There are two major approaches to the Club: one through Dinner Key Main  Channel, which allows for an 8' depth, and the second, slightly to its north, known as the Seaplane Channel, a privately maintained channel of 5' depth.

If you are approaching CRYC from the south, head north and aim at downtown Miami until you get to Donovan’s Mark to the entrance of the Main Dinner Key Channel. The safe entry point for the Dinner Key entrance to Coconut Grove is  N25.42.98  W080.12.40. If your boat draws more than 5’, you will want to enter here at a heading of 330°.  Once you are close to the docks, go to the right and stay close to the boats. When you have rounded the docks (Dinner Key), you will then stay on the left side of the basin. You will pass docks with a Shell gas station, the entrance to Shake-A-Leg Miami, the Monty’s docks, Biscayne Bay Yacht Club docks and then you will be approaching the CRYC docks.

If you are boating south from downtown Miami, you will pass under the Rickenbacker Causeway Bridge and head toward the Quick Flash Mark. You are getting close to Coconut Grove.  The safe entry point for the Seaplane Channel entrance is N25.42.13  W080.12.57. This Seaplane Channel is the northernmost Coconut Grove entry channel. There is a dolphin (4 piling marker with a light) marking the entrance to this channel. Turn right at a heading of 330° aiming toward the tall SBS building (the tallest on the north side of Coconut Grove) with Monty’s in front of it. Start to turn right when 100 yards from the docks. Do not cut the corner as it is shallow.  You will pass by the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club docks and then you will be at CRYC docks.
